On Friday 26th October 2018, Sport Godalming held its annual awards ceremony where they recognised the sporting achievements of local athletes and volunteers. The event was held at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre in the presence of the guests of honour, Ken Schofield CBE and his wife Evelyn, the Mayor of Waverley, Cllr Denise Le Gal, the Mayor and Mayoress of Godalming, Cllr, Nick Williams and Jeanne Williams, other distinguished guests from the local sporting world, nominees and supporters.

In his speech Ken Schofield talked about the recent successes of the Surrey Cricket club’s achievement in winning the County Championship, and the European Ryder Cup teams win over America in Paris.  Ken reminding everyone that it is individuals that make up a team and at some time or other we all have to rely on other people to help deliver our goals etc.

Simon Crowther, Chairman of Sport Godalming said, “These awards evenings are always very special, not only for those athletes and teams being recognised but also by their supporters, coaches and families. This year was no exception and the buzz around a packed Wilfrid Noyce Centre was truly electric. From my side, I would like to thank the Sport Godalming team for all their contributions, on and leading up to the evening. We were honoured to have both Mayors from Waverley and Godalming in attendance as well as Ken Schofield, whose words were inspirational. All in all, a terrific evening and we look forward to 2019 and doing it all over again!”
