Chris is a 21 year old discus thrower from Farncombe in Surrey. He won his first national title in 2004 at the age of 16, following this up with victories at under 20 and under 23 levels. He is the current UK under-23 discus champion, presently ranked 3rd in Great Britain and 20th in Europe.
Chris made his international debut at the Schools International in 2004 where he won the gold medal. He followed this up with representing England in Stavanger, Norway in 2007 where he was again victorious. He was selected for the Great Britain and N.I team for the European Junior Championships in Hengelo, Netherlands in the same year, and in 2008 won a bronze medal whilst representing England in a throws festival in Croatia.
Chris is currently in his final year at Loughborough University studying for a degree in Information Management and Business Studies. He has a Sports Scholarship at the University.
Chris is hoping to qualify for the European Under 23 Championships in July this year, then aiming for the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014 and Olympics in 2012 and 2016.
Chris won the discus at the Under 23 UK National Championships 2010 with a Championship best performance. He set 5 personal bests in the competition and threw over the qualifying distance for the Commonwealth Games 4 times! His throw of 59.90m was the best throw by an English Under 23 discus thrower in the past decade and the 5th best all time by an under 23! It was quite a competition! |
